SCWEC advocacy forum at kathmandu, Nepal

SCWEC has just successfully organized a Regional Advocacy Forum from 26th -28th March on the occasion of International Women's month. The Regional workshop was participated in by SCWEC Vice Chairpersons from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan and Nepal. Government officials from the related ministries from the SAARC countries also attended the event. The objective of the Advocacy Forum is to improve the economic climate for women’s entrepreneurship by indicating specific policies that would achieve this improvement.  Best practices from the SAARC region were highlighted, giving an opportunity to other countries to implement the same. The event is focused on "Sharing of Best Practices for Replication”. The theme of the event is "Drive for economic policies for Women". Resource persons from India and Pakistan made the paper presentations.

 

 
CHANCE Workshop-Marketing through the Internet
 
The SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneur Council(SCWEC) hosted a Workshop entitled “Businesswomen’s Associations-Marketing through the Internet” , on the 2nd -3rd October 2010 at Dhaka, in collaboration with InWEnt, an organization based in Bonn, Germany.The aim of this Workshop was to demystify the Internet and provide information on how the Internet can be used for marketing. The participants were mainly from Bangladesh and a few from the other SAARC countries, all leaders of Businesswomen’s Associations.
 
Seminar on Global Worming Climate Changes
 
A Seminar on Global Warming Climate Change was organized by SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneur Council (SCWEC) in collaboration with Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) on 18th January 2010 at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon. Mrs Indira Dutt, Chairperson, SCWEC, will Chair the Seminar.

Background Of SCWEC

SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneur Council (SCWEC) was established in 2001 with the objective to develop and promote Women Entrepreneur in the South Asian region.

 
WEAB as a member of SCWEC, network closely with the SAARC countries. WEAB President Ms Nasreen Awal Mintoo was appointed as the Chairperson of SCWEC in March 2004 for a period of 2 years (2004-2006).One of the key achievements of SCWEC has been the establishment of the SAARC Chamber Craft Village(SCCV) which was set up in July 2006. SCCV is a unique entrepreneurial project with the aim to market products manufactured exclusively by women in the SAARC region.
 
From March 2007, Ms V. L. Indira Dutt, India has taken over the charge for a period of two years.
